LESSONS FAQS

When is registration?
Registration begins on June 7 at Noon at your lesson center and continues through out the summer. Lessons may not be reserved without payment
What is the Swim Lesson Program?
The Outdoor Pools offer three two-week sessions and one one- week session over the course of the summer. Morning classes will meet eight times during the two-week session; evening individual classes meet twice a week for two weeks.
What if I am late for my lessons?
Please arrive early for your lessons so that you have time to prepare for your class. Due to scheduling constraints if you are late for your lessons then you forfeit the time missed.
What if it is bad weather?
All pools will close for thunder and lightening and will remain closed for 30 minutes after the last report of thunder or lightening. Instructors will hold the class each scheduled day even if there is light rain. If becomes necessary to make up a class, arrangements will be posted at the lesson center.
What if I miss a class?
With more than 1,000 students, we regret that we are unable to arrange make up lessons for those who miss regularly scheduled classes.
What happens if my instructor is not there?
f the instructor is unable to complete a lesson or must be absent, a suitable substitute will be provided. While we understand that this can be a concern, please be assured that every Outdoor Pool instructor is well qualified and when a substitute is provided, the class goal will remain consistent.
My friend or employee wants to give my child lessons:
It is the policy of the Columbia Association that all lessons taught at the Outdoor Pools must be taught by instructors employed by the Columbia Association and that all fees must be paid to the Columbia Association. A receipt will be issued for any payment made to the Columbia Association for any lessons or services provided by the Outdoor Pools.
What happens if my child cannot finish their session?
If a student gets an illness that prevents them from attending their session a credit voucher will be issued for the remaining balance of the class. The parent will need to contact the outdoor pool lesson supervisor to receive this credit as soon as the child is diagnosed.
What happens if my child cannot start a session?
The parent should contact the lesson supervisor before the lesson begins to receive a refund.
